The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is home to the province’s only MRI machine, and demand for scans is growing every day. That’s why we’re raising funds for a much-needed MRI software upgrade.
This $95,000 upgrade will:
Faster scans mean quicker answers for patients facing uncertain health concerns. With your support on the Big Day of Giving, we can shorten wait times and ensure more Islanders get the care they need, right when they need it most.
As the Island’s largest hospital and main referral centre, the QEH Medical Equipment Priority list for 2024/25 currently totals $6.1 million. That list grows and changes as technologies advance, urgent needs arise, and as staff express the need for additional equipment support.
Here are just a few of the many pieces we need your support to fund:
MRI Software Upgrade (D.I.) $95,000
Ortho C-Arm (Operating Room) $220,500
Portable X-ray (Diagnostic Imaging) $160,000
Biliblankets x 4 (NICU) $28,000
Oxygen Blender Low Flow Meter x 2 (Respiratory) $8,492
Blanket Warmer x 6 (Operating Room) $60,005
Echo Ultrasound (Diagnosting Imaging) $145,000
Bladder Scanner (Obstetrics) $20,000
Pediatric Physical Therapy Equipment (Physical Medicine) $25,000
IR Ultrasound Machine (D.I.) $150,000

When you support the QEH Big Day of Giving, you’re helping Islanders get the care they need close to home. Essential equipment, like the Ortho C-Arm, is only made possible with the support of our community.
“The Ortho C-Arm is an essential tool in fracture care. Nearly every broken bone that requires surgical repair depends on this imaging technology. It gives us real-time feedback during procedures, ensuring we position fractures correctly and place surgical tools with precision. Whether it’s a child with a broken elbow, an adult recovering from an ankle injury, or a senior healing from a hip fracture, this machine is critical in getting people back on their feet, back to work, and back to the activities they love.”
